Project planning Is part of Project management, which relates to the use of schedules such as Gantt charts to plan and subsequently report progress within the project environment. Project planning can be done manually or by the use of project management software such Primavera P6 and Microsoft project.
Project Planning involves:
- Review Drawings, Contract Condition, BOQ, Create, Assign duration and Sequence activities.
- Providing detailed schedule for WBS. (WBS detailed below)
- Providing method statement and schedule methodology.
- Breaking down BOQ and quantities as per WBS.
- Monitoring and maintaining the POW thru monthly updates, by generating progress reports showing the current status Vs baseline, highlighting the Source of Delay, propose corrective action and measure to be taken to recover delay, providing look ahead schedule, Planned Value” PV” Vs Earned Value “EV” Analysis.
- Prepare EOT claim and defend it.
WBS:
- General Requirement, contractual milestones, Shop Drawing per trade or else plus Material submittal /approval and procurement for the remaining works.
- Structural, Architectural and MEP Works. Further split to special areas i.e., Shelter, Parking, Technical, Lobbies, Guest rooms, Shafts, Stairs, Elevator, facades per elevation, external works...
- Demobilisation schedule, Tower cranes and hoist dismantling plus related reinstatement works...
- Testing and Commissioning.
